The Municipality of Woollahra is a Local Government Area in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The administrative centre of the Municipality of Woollahra is located on New South Head Road at Double Bay.

It also includes parts of Edgecliff, Rose Bay and Vaucluse which are shared with Waverley Council. Parts of Paddington are also shared with the City of Sydney.

History

The traditional Aboriginal owners of Woollahra were the Cadigal and Birrabirragal clans of the Dharug people. In 1788, immediately after European arrival in Sydney Cove, an expedition was sent to settle South Head in Woollahra, probably following an aboriginal track, the route became Old South Head Road. In 1790 a flagstaff and signal station was erected. Woollahra was incorporated into a municipality in 1860, and enlarged in 1968. From 1895 to 1948, part of the local government area was separately incorporated as Vaucluse Municipality.
